About the Speaker

Catherine Bigras is a student member of the Centre d’Excellence sur le Vieillissement de Québec (CEVQ) and a PhD candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Université Laval under the co-supervision of Jean-Philippe Drouin-Chartier from the Centre NUTRISS and Danielle Laurin from the CEVQ.

Originally trained as a nutritionist at the Université de Montréal, she also holds a bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science and a master’s degree in Neuroscience from McGill University. Catherine is the recipient of the René Verreault Excellence Research Scholarship from the CEVQ as well as a scholarship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

As part of her doctoral studies, Catherine combines her expertise in nutrition and cognitive science to conduct epidemiological research focused on the prevention of neurocognitive disorders. Her work draws in part on data from the PROQ Study, a 24-year longitudinal occupational cohort study conducted in Quebec City.

Her research interests include plant-based nutrition, dietary patterns, cardioprotective medication, and cognitive health during aging.
