Hello,
We are pleased to invite you to the inauguration of the Abberior-CERVO Nanoscopic Bioimaging Center (CBNAC), which will take place on October 28, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m. Among the participants will be Prof. Dr. Dr. Stefan Hell, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2014), who will join us online.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Stefan Hell is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen and at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg, Germany. He is renowned for having conceived, validated, and applied the first viable concept to surpass the Abbe diffraction limit in light-focusing microscopy. He has received numerous honors, including the 2014 Kavli Prize in Nanoscience and the 2014 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. In 2022, he was admitted to the Order “Pour le Mérite”, and in 2023, he received the “In Publica Commoda” Medal of Honor from the University of Göttingen and was awarded the Werner von Siemens Ring.
This joint initiative between Université Laval, the CERVO Research Center, and the company Abberior will provide access to cutting-edge super-resolution microscopes. The center aims to strengthen long-term collaboration between CERVO and Abberior teams to develop innovative approaches in optical imaging. As Abberior’s first initiative of this kind, the CBNAC results from the acquisition of Canada’s largest super-resolution optical microscopy infrastructure, made possible through a major contribution from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).
Program – October 28 – Hall Signature, CERVO Research Center
