Science in the Wild – Essential Skills for a Public-Facing Career
📜Abstract: The credibility of science, and its power to inform public action, depend not only on the quality of our findings, but also our ability to communicate them persuasively. The consequences of failing to do so are already visible; scientific expertise is increasingly met with skepticism, while misinformation spreads rapidly.
Public trust is not earned by asserting authority, but through visible, relatable experts who can engage audiences with a compelling translation of their work. This presentation aims to provide researchers with the tools and impetus for effective science communication. Drawing from my own career trajectory, I will also discuss how popularizing science can broaden career prospects.
